4-(2-Carboxyethyl)-4-nitroheptanedioic acid (CEHA) is a styrene-based monomer that is synthesized by the bioconjugate chemistry of streptavidin and galnac. The functional groups on the CEHA molecule are amines and hydroxyls, which allow for a variety of functionalizations. CEHA has been shown to be selectively incorporated into tumor xenografts in vivo with high melting points, making it an ideal candidate for pretargeting. Pretargeting is a technique used in radionuclide therapy where a ligand or chelator conjugated to a radioactive nuclide is injected intravenously and then accumulates at the site of interest in the body. The radiolabeled ligand or chelator can be targeted to specific tissue receptors such as amines or hydroxyls, which are found on many proteins including DNA, RNA, and phospholipids.
