C8 dihydroceramide is a lipid that is synthesized from palmitic acid and serine. It has been shown to inhibit cancer cell proliferation and induce autophagy in animal models, as well as promote the generation of pluripotent cells from mammalian cells. C8 dihydroceramide inhibits the synthesis of a fatty acid, hydroxyl group, and hydroxylase by inhibiting the activity of enzymes such as dehydrogenase. The light emission from C8 dihydroceramide is observed in aqueous solution with a pH greater than 8.5 and an excitation wavelength of 430 nm.
