(1R)-(-)-10-Camphorsulfonyl chloride is a homochiral, insoluble, and chiral compound. It has been used as a stabilizer for organic reactions due to its interaction with dipoles. (1R)-(-)-10-Camphorsulfonyl chloride can be synthesized by the reaction of thionyl chloride with isoeugenol in hexane solvent at room temperature. This product can also be prepared using preparative chromatography.
(1R)-(-)-10-Camphorsulfonyl chloride is an enthalpic stabilizer that can be used in the synthesis of other compounds. The product is soluble in solvents such as dichloromethane and chloroform, but not in water or ethanol.
