Product Information
- (2a,5b,6a,18b)-3,4-DidehydroIbogamine-18-carboxylic acid
Catharanthinic acid is a dihedral, indole alkaloid that is not modified. It was sequenced and found to be endophytic to the fungus P-388. When this fungus was cultured in the presence of albumin, the alkaloid could be detected in the culture medium. The antiserum used for this study was obtained after injecting rabbits with serum albumin. Catharanthine has electronegative properties and is toxic to cells because it inhibits protein synthesis.
