5-Chloro-2-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)-2-isopropylvaleronitrile is an ionomer that can be used as an inhibitor for hydrogen atom transfer reactions. 5-Chloro-2-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)-2-isopropylvaleronitrile has been shown to inhibit the polymerization of rolipram and theophylline in the presence of alkoxy groups. It also inhibits the polymerization of the alkoxy group during electrolysis. This compound has a selectivity for benzoxazoles over other substrates and exhibits an inhibitory effect on electrode activity.
