6-Chloro-4-phenylquinazolin-2-carboxaldehyde is a chemical compound that belongs to the class of oxazepam. It is used in the production of high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) solvents, which are used for analytical and preparative purposes. 6CPA has been shown to be hydrolyzed by methanol to form 2-amino-5-chlorobenzophenone, a chemical intermediate in the production of lorazepam and temazepam. This product has been shown to be acidic and can be used as a reagent for chromatographic assays with a wavelength of 254 nm. 6CPA is also extracted with eluent at this wavelength.
