Description:
1-Chloro-5-isoquinolinesulfonyl chloride is a vasodilator that is structurally related to the anti-tumor agent, vincristine. This drug binds to the enzyme glycogen synthase kinase 3β (GSK3β) and inhibits its activity. 1-Chloro-5-isoquinolinesulfonyl chloride has been shown to be effective in cellular assays against gsk3β and has shown efficacy in animal models of cerebral vascular disease. It has also been shown to be effective in treating hypertension by dilating blood vessels and lowering levels of arterial pressure. 1-Chloro-5-isoquinolinesulfonyl chloride is being developed as a remedy for stroke, heart attacks, and other cerebral vascular diseases.
