4-Chloro-5-sulfamoyl-salicylic acid is a polymorphic compound that can be found in two different crystal structures. It has been used in the synthesis of luminescent compounds and as a ligand for magnetic materials. The reaction system with dioxane, chlorine, and centrosymmetric diffraction was studied extensively. This compound is soluble in alkaline solutions and reacts with alkylating agents to form substituted sulfamoyl chlorides. 4-Chloro-5-sulfamoyl-salicylic acid also reacts with coulombic forces to form supramolecular structures.
