Description

(S)-2-Chloroacetyl-2-demethyl thiocolchicine is a drug that binds to colchicine and prevents the toxicity of this drug by interfering with its binding to tubulin. (S)-2-Chloroacetyl-2-demethyl thiocolchicine inhibits polymerization of tubulin, which is necessary for cell division. This drug has been shown to be effective against podophyllotoxin, an agent that causes cancer in humans. It has also been shown to inhibit the proliferation of cells in culture and to have anti-inflammatory properties.
