Description:
1-[4-(2-Chloroethoxy)phenyl]-2-phenylethanone (1-CPE) is a ketone that is synthesized by the enolate of ethyl acetate and 2-chloroethanol. 1-CPE is a probe for the detection of DNA adducts. It reacts with dna to form a stable adduct, which can be detected by electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy. 1-CPE has been shown to incorporate into the hepatic DNA of rats, indicating that it may have carcinogenic properties.
