Description:
4-Chloromethyl-1H-imidazole hydrochloride is an intermediate that can be used in the production of histidine. It can also be used as a histidine substitute to prevent pellagra and other diseases caused by a lack of dietary histidine. 4-Chloromethyl-1H-imidazole hydrochloride has been shown to increase the activity of dl-histidine, which is a coenzyme necessary for the synthesis of proteins, nucleic acids, and neurotransmitters.
