5-Chloronaphthalene-1-sulfonyl chloride is a pyrazole derivative that inhibits the activity of transglutaminase, an enzyme involved in the crosslinking of proteins. It also inhibits protein kinases, which are enzymes that regulate the activity of other proteins by adding a phosphate group to them. 5-Chloronaphthalene-1-sulfonyl chloride binds to cations such as chloride and hydrogen bonds with amino acids in protein molecules. The compound has shown selectivity for calmodulin antagonists over other types of protein kinase inhibitors.
