3-(4-Chlorophenyl)-1,2,4-oxadiazole-5-butanoic acid is an organometallic compound that has been shown to inhibit the transcription of DNA by inhibiting the polymerase chain reaction. It has been shown to be active against a number of infectious diseases, including AIDS and tuberculosis. 3-(4-Chlorophenyl)-1,2,4-oxadiazole-5-butanoic acid has also been shown to have anti-cancer properties. This drug binds with copper ions and prevents the production of chemokines and growth factors that are responsible for cellular transformation in cancer cells.
