Description:
4-(4-Chlorophenyl)-2,6-piperidinedione is an inhibitor of bacterial hydrolases and it is used as a therapeutic agent. The compound has an optical rotation, which depends on the temperature. 4-(4-Chlorophenyl)-2,6-piperidinedione binds to bacterial glutarimide and gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptors in vitro, inhibiting the growth of bacteria. This drug is also stereospecific with respect to its inhibition of the GABA receptor.
