(+)-(18-Crown-6)-2,3,11,12-tetracarboxylic acid is a β-amino acid that is synthesized from carboxylic acids and ammonia. The compound has been shown to have beneficial effects in the treatment of coronary heart diseases. This drug is stable in acidic conditions, but hydrolyzes in basic conditions. It can also form stable complexes with amines and chiral hydroxyl groups. (+)-(18-Crown-6)-2,3,11,12-tetracarboxylic acid can exist as two enantiomers: an S enantiomer and a R enantiomer.
