Description:

2-Cyclopentylphenol is a synthetic compound with potential impurities that can result in alkylation. It has been used as an animal health supplement and has been shown to enhance the growth of cells that are responsive to androstane receptor activation. 2-Cyclopentylphenol is not active against cervical cancer cells but does have the potential for use as a chemopreventive agent. The hydroxyl group on the carbon atom adjacent to the double bond is responsible for this lack of activity.
2-Cyclopentylphenol is known to bind to the androstane receptor, which influences transcriptional regulation by DNA binding and protein binding, leading to increased expression of genes involved in apoptosis or cell cycle arrest.
