2-Chloro-3-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzaldehyde is a cholinesterase inhibitor that belongs to the class of amaryllidaceae alkaloids. It has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of acetylcholinesterase, which is an enzyme responsible for the breakdown of acetylcholine in the brain.
