4-Chlorophthalic acid is a chemical intermediate that belongs to the isomeric mixture of phosphorus pentachloride. It can be prepared by treating the pentachloride with hydrochloric acid and sodium chloride in the presence of activated charcoal. The monosodium salt is obtained by treating this mixture with water, followed by crystallization. 4-Chlorophthalic acid has high values for activated chlorine, which makes it suitable for wastewater treatment as well as other chemical reactions. The chemical reactions that occur when 4-chlorophthalic acid is heated are surface methodology, solubility data, and low energy.
