Description:

2-Chloro-5-fluoroanisole is a porphyrin that has been used as a ring-opening catalyst in the synthesis of alcohols. It also activates epoxides to form epoxide products. The catalytic activity of 2-chloro-5-fluoroanisole is due to its electron donating ability, which results from its electron rich chloro substituents. This compound may be used to synthesize other porphyrins and porphyrin complexes through reactions with metal ions. 2-Chloro-5-fluoroanisole can also be used as an oxidizing agent, leading to the production of acidic byproducts.
