Description

Trans-4-(4-chlorophenyl)-1-cyclohexane carboxylic acid is a nucleophilic reagent that reacts with amines by displacement of the amino group. It has been shown to be effective against staphylococcus and other gram positive bacteria when combined with radiation or in screening for new antibiotics. Trans-4-(4-chlorophenyl)-1-cyclohexane carboxylic acid is also an antibacterial agent, which inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the ribosomes. The mechanism of action of this drug is not yet known, but it may inhibit the synthesis of proteins needed for bacterial growth.
