Product Information
Cyclobutanecarbothioamide is an anti-bacterial agent that has been shown to be active against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It inhibits the ATP-sensitive potassium channel, which leads to a fall in intracellular potassium concentration. This results in depolarization of the cell membrane, opening of voltage-gated calcium channels, and release of neurotransmitters. Cyclobutanecarbothioamide has been used for the treatment of chronic bronchitis, depression, and Alzheimer's disease. It is also used to treat glaucoma by lowering intraocular pressure. The drug is metabolized by glutaminyl cyclase to produce glutamic acid and cyclobutane carboxylic acid. The isozymes CYP2C9 and CYP3A4 are responsible for the conversion of cyclobutanecarbothioamide into its metabolites.br>
