Description:
3-Chloro-1,2-propanediol is an organic compound that is a fatty acid. It is the result of a synthetic reaction between epoxides and (S)-(+)-chloroacetic acid. 3-Chloro-1,2-propanediol is used as a substrate for asymmetric synthesis. It can be synthesized in acidic conditions and has been shown to have antifertility effects in both male and female rats at high concentrations. This compound also has the ability to inhibit spermatozoa motility by decreasing their chloride content.
