Description

3-Chlorobenzophenone is a heterocyclic organic compound with the molecular formula CHClO. It has two isomers, the ortho and para isomers. The para isomer has a lower redox potential than the ortho isomer, which means that it can undergo photoreduction more easily. 3-Chlorobenzophenone can also be used for Friedel-Crafts acylation reactions. This reaction produces an alcohol and an acid as reaction products, and the selectivity of this process depends on the difference in redox potential between the reactants.
