Cbz-b-alanine is a natural product that is classified as an environmental pollutant. It is an inorganic compound that does not have any biological activity. Cbz-b-alanine and its derivatives are used as histone deacetylase inhibitors and have been shown to have antimicrobial properties against bacteria, such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Cbz-b-alanine has also been shown to bind to the reticulum of human cells, which may be due to its congener structure and affinity for the ɣ3 subunit of the Na/K ATPase. The four amino acids present in Cbz-b-alanine can be found in many other compounds, but there are impurities that make it difficult to characterize, such as conformational changes.
