Description:

m-Cyanobenzyl chloride is a fluorescence-introducing reagent that can be used to generate a variety of fluorescent derivatives. It is usually prepared by the reaction of benzyl chloride with magnesium in the presence of a base or cocatalyst. This reagent reacts with amines, chlorides, and other electron-deficient compounds to form fluorescent derivatives. The m-cyanobenzyl chloride can be used for the introduction of various functional groups into organic molecules. The stepwise nature of this process allows for the selective introduction of different functional groups at different positions on the molecule. This technique is widely used because it does not require any protection or deprotection steps, which may lead to unwanted side reactions.
