Product Information
- 2-(2-Chlorophenyl)Ethanohydrazide
- Benzeneacetic Acid, 2-Chloro-, Hydrazide
- 2-(2-Chlorophenyl)acetohydrazide
(2-Chloro-phenyl)-acetic acid hydrazide is a condensation agent that can react with a variety of carboxylic acids to form an alpha, beta unsaturated ester. It is aprotic and therefore does not react with water or alcohols. The reaction of (2-chloro-phenyl)-acetic acid hydrazide with aromatic or heterocyclic carboxylic acids in the presence of a base yields a substituted 2,4,5-trichlorobenzoic acid derivative. This reaction is catalyzed by metal salts such as zinc chloride or silver nitrate.
