Description:
L-Cyclopentylglycine is a synthetic amino acid that inhibits the enzyme prostaglandin synthetase. Its biological properties are mediated by interaction with the γ-secretase inhibitor, which is an enzyme that prevents the proteolytic cleavage of amyloid precursor protein (APP). L-Cyclopentylglycine has been shown to be effective in inhibiting the proteolytic activity of synaptosomal preparations from strains of mice and rats. It also inhibits contractility in smooth muscle cells. This drug has been shown to have no effect on hormone release or on blood pressure in animals.
