Product Information

Name:
Cyclobutanol
Description:

Cyclobutanol is a hydrogen-bond donor and has been used as a model system to study intramolecular hydrogen bonding. It is also a precursor in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals, such as antimicrobial agents and cancer drugs. Cyclobutanol is used to synthesize amines, which are intermediates in the production of pharmaceuticals. The deuterium isotope effect on cyclobutanol has been studied by measuring binding constants and activation energies with biological samples. Cyclobutanol has been shown to be an effective anti-microbial agent against bacteria and yeast, but not so much against fungi.
