Ceftezole sodium is an antimicrobial agent that belongs to the class of carbonates. It is used for the treatment of infectious diseases, such as urinary tract infections and respiratory tract infections. This drug is a white crystalline powder with a molecular weight of 289.2 g/mol and a melting point of 122°C. Ceftezole sodium has been shown to be effective against Gram-positive bacteria, such as Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pneumoniae, but not against Gram-negative bacteria, such as Escherichia coli or Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The solubility of ceftezole sodium in water at 25°C is 1g/L and it can be dissolved in phosphate buffer at pH 6.8 at concentrations up to 5g/L.
