4-Chloro-2,8-bis(trifluoromethyl)quinoline is a quinoline derivative that has been shown to be effective against staphylococcus, aureus, pneumoniae and antituberculosis. 4-Chloro-2,8-bis(trifluoromethyl)quinoline inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the 4-hydroxy group of the ribose sugar in DNA. This drug also reacts with pyrazoles to form a hydrazone that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis. The antibacterial activity of this drug is due to its ability to inhibit the synthesis of proteins.
