It is a colorless crystalline solid with a sweetish odor. 4-Chloro-2,6-dimethylaniline reacts with hydrogen peroxide and catalyses the oxidation of primary alcohols to their corresponding aldehydes or ketones. 4-Chloro-2,6-dimethylaniline also acts as a peroxidase in the presence of H2O2 and catalyzes the oxidation of methyl groups to carboxylic acids or alcohols.
