Description:

2-Chloro-7-fluoroquinazolin-4(3H)-one is a quinazoline derivative that has been shown to block voltage-gated Ca2+ channels, which are important for the propagation of nerve impulses. This compound has been shown to be effective in cell culture and in animal models of osteopenia, hypertension, and cancer. It inhibits the α2δ subunit of voltage-gated Ca2+ channels by binding to the extracellular loop between transmembrane domains III and IV. The compound also blocks voltage-gated K+ channels in rat neurons, causing an increase in extracellular Ca2+, which causes a hyperpolarization of the membrane potential. This inhibition leads to decreased blood pressure and increased phenylephrine levels. 2-Chloro-7-fluoroquinazolin-4(3H)-one may have anticancer activity as it is capable of inhibiting the proliferation of cancer
