Description:

2-Chloro-6-pyridinecarboxylic acid is an organic compound that is a white crystalline solid. It is soluble in water and has a melting point of about 180°C. 2-Chloro-6-pyridinecarboxylic acid can be used for the production of picolinic acid, which is found in plants and has phytotoxic properties. This compound is also an analytical reagent that can be used to measure chloride ions in water or other solutions. 2-Chloro-6-pyridinecarboxylic acid reacts with phosphorus pentachloride to form picolinic acid, which has been shown to induce apoptosis in human lymphocytes and pancreatic lipase in vitro.
