3-Chloro-2-oxopropylidene triphenylphosphorane is an alkylene that has been used as a pharmaceutical agent. This compound binds with the active site of herbicides, preventing them from inhibiting the enzyme that synthesizes amino acids. The herbicide is not able to bind with the enzyme, which prevents it from inhibiting the production of amino acids.
