Chlorophenylsilane is a chemical compound with the formula Cl(C6H5)2SiCl. It is a colorless liquid that reacts with water or alcohol to produce hydrogen chloride and chloroform. Chlorophenylsilane has been shown to be an optimal reactive functional group for reactions with aliphatic hydrocarbons. The diameters of its particles are 1-10 microns and it is soluble in chloroform, ether, benzene, carbon tetrachloride, and hexane. Chlorophenylsilane can be immobilized on a particle or on a substrate such as silica or alumina. This compound has been used in the production of palladium complexes for use in organic synthesis.
