Product Information

Name:
6-Cyanonicotinic acid
Synonyms:
  • 5-Carboxypicolinonitrile~2-Cyano-5-carboxypyridine~6-Cyanopyridine-3-carboxylic acid
Description:

6-Cyanonicotinic acid is a water soluble anion that is able to bind to metal ions. It has been shown to inhibit 11β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase and anions, as well as dehydrogenases and anions. 6-Cyanonicotinic acid binds to metal ions through the π electron system of the pyridine ring. The ligand coordinates with the metal ion by sharing its electrons, which leads to changes in the geometry of the metal ion. These changes in geometry lead to inhibition of enzymatic activity.
