Product Information
- 6-Chloro-3-Fluoro-2-Methylpyridine
- Pyridine,6-chloro-3-fluoro-2-methyl-
2-Chloro-5-fluoro-6-methylpyridine is an alkaline compound that can be used as a catalyst in the oxidation of alcohols to aldehydes or ketones. It reacts with potassium dichromate to form potassium 2,5-dichloro-6-methylpyridinium dichromate. This reaction is catalyzed by acidified, oxidizing conditions and produces high yields of picolinate. The impurities found in this substance are unreacted 2-chloro-5-fluoro-6 methylpyridine and dichromates, which can be removed through crystallization and solvent extraction.
