Product Information
- Benzeneethanamine, 4-chloro-N-methyl-4-Chloro-N-methyl-benzeneethanamine
2-(4-Chlorophenyl)ethyl]methylamine is a neurotoxin that acts as an agonist at the 5-HT2A receptor, which is one of the serotonin receptors. It has been shown to deplete serotonin in the brain, which may be due to its ability to enter nerve cells and bind to serotonergic neurons. 2-(4-Chlorophenyl)ethyl]methylamine inhibits serotonin uptake by blocking presynaptic serotonin transporter function and thereby decreases synthesis of serotonin from tryptophan. This agent has also been shown to have specificity for the 5-HT2A receptor and does not affect other neurotransmitters such as dopamine, norepinephrine, or acetylcholine.
