3-Chlorobenzamidine hydrochloride is a benzamidine derivative that inhibits the activity of various enzymes, such as acetylcholinesterase and phosphodiesterase. It binds to the enzyme's active site, blocking access by the substrate. The inhibition of these enzymes leads to an increase in the levels of acetylcholine and cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP), respectively. 3-Chlorobenzamidine hydrochloride has been shown to be effective for treating thrombosis by inhibiting platelet aggregation and preventing clot formation. 3-Chlorobenzamidine hydrochloride has also been shown to have antithrombotic effects by reducing blood viscosity, which may be due to its ability to shift the blood's plasma proteins into a more fluid state.
