5-Chloro-1H-indazole-3-carbonitrile belongs to the class of naphthyridone derivatives. It is a potent cholinergic receptor antagonist that binds to the fatty acid binding site of the acetylcholine receptor and blocks the transmission of nerve impulses. 5-Chloro-1H-indazole-3-carbonitrile has been shown to have a variety of biochemical properties, including denaturation, fatty acid binding, NADPH cytochrome P450 oxidation, 4 methoxybenzenesulfonyl chloride reduction, enzymatic reaction rate, and kinetic constants. 5-Chloro-1H-indazole-3-carbonitrile is used clinically as an antidote for organophosphate poisoning in humans. This drug also has a variety of effects on human liver cells.5
