Chroman-3-yl-methylamine is a butyrophenone antihistamine which is used to treat allergic conditions such as hay fever, chronic urticaria, and asthma. It acts by blocking the H1 receptor. This drug has been shown to have a high degree of penetration in the brain and spinal cord. Chroman-3-yl-methylamine can be absorbed orally or through inhalation. It is metabolized in the liver to form metabolites that are excreted in urine. In animal studies, chroman-3-yl-methylamine has been shown to have an UV absorption spectrum similar to that of chlorpromazine.
