Description

3-Chlorobenzo[b]thiophen-2-carbonyl chloride (3CBTC) is a triazine derivative that is synthesized to be used as an antibiotic. 3CBTC inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to the ribosomes and preventing protein synthesis. It also has significant interactions with amines, aldehydes, oxazolones, piperidine, pyrazoles, aminopyridine and thionyl chloride. 3CBTC has been shown to inhibit the growth of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria such as Streptococcus pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
