Product Information

Name:
2-Chloro-4-(4-bromophenyl)thiazole
Synonyms:
  • 4-(4-Bromophenyl)-2-chloro-1,3-thiazole
  • Thiazole, 4-(4-Bromophenyl)-2-Chloro-
Description:

2-Chloro-4-(4-bromophenyl)thiazole is an analogue of the palladium coupling reaction product. It can be used in the synthesis of a range of substituted thiazoles, by reacting with phenols or amines. This compound is regiospecific and regiocontrolled, as it has been shown to react only with the ortho position on the phenol. The alkali hydrolysis step can be carried out under mild conditions, which produces 2-chlorothiazole.
2-Chloro-4-(4-bromophenyl)thiazole is also a selective coupling agent for the synthesis of 2-aminoquinazoline derivatives via a Suzuki cross coupling reaction with boronic acids or esters.
