Description:
2-(Chloromethyl)pyridine 1-oxide is a phosphorylated pyridine. It has been shown to inhibit the enzyme phosphorylase kinase and phosphorylase, which are involved in the breakdown of glycogen. 2-(Chloromethyl)pyridine 1-oxide inhibits glycogenolysis by inhibiting the activity of these enzymes. This drug also has a chemical property that prevents it from crossing the blood-brain barrier and entering the central nervous system.
