Product Information
- 6-Chlorohexaldehyde
6-Chlorohexanal is an organic compound that belongs to the group of hexanal, which are simple alkenes. It is a byproduct of the synthesis of cyclohexanol from benzaldehyde and formaldehyde. 6-Chlorohexanal has shown anticancer activity in human cancer cell lines against breast cancer and leukemia. 6-Chlorohexanal inhibits the growth of cancer cells by inhibiting DNA synthesis and cell division. This may be due to its ability to induce apoptosis (cell death) and inhibit fatty acid biosynthesis. 6-Chlorohexanal also inhibits protein synthesis and cell division by binding to RNA polymerase II, preventing transcription of mRNA into proteins.
