Description:
3-Chloro-4-cyanonitrobenzene (3CCNB) is a nitroarene that can be used as a selective oxidant in the reaction of potassium with chlorine. The reaction proceeds through an elimination reaction to produce quaternary ammonium salts and alkanes. 3CCNB is also used as a catalyst in the extraction of dialkyl-containing compounds, such as 2-chloro-4-fluorobenzonitrile (2C4FBN) and sulfoxide.
