Description

3-Chlorobenzothiophene-2-carbohydrazide is an antibacterial agent that inhibits the growth of bacteria. It has been shown to be effective against chalcones and oxadiazoles, but not against chlorides or acid hydrazides. 3-Chlorobenzothiophene-2-carbohydrazide has also been shown to have a high inhibition efficiency at temperatures between 25 and 50 degrees Celsius. This compound has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria by binding to their cell wall and causing damage to it. 3-Chlorobenzothiophene-2-carbohydrazide binds with silicon, chloroacetone, and aldehydes; however, it does not bind with chalcones or oxadiazoles. The antibacterial activity of this compound is due in part to its ability to inhibit bacterial DNA synthesis.
