  • 2-Chloro-5-Flouro-3-Nitropyridine
Description:

2-Chloro-5-fluoro-3-nitropyridine (2C5NP) is an imidazopyridine that has been used as a medicine. It is a nucleophile and hydrolyzes to form 2,5-dichloroimidazolium chloride and 5-fluoronicotinic acid. 2C5NP hydrolyzes in water to release the two products, which are also reactive. The hydrolysis of 2C5NP releases toxic gases such as HCl and HF, and therefore must be handled carefully. Hydrolysis of this compound by acid or base leads to the formation of chlorinated compounds.
