Description:

Cyclohexylurea is a carbonyl compound that is used as an oral hypoglycemic drug. It belongs to the class of medicines that are used in cancer treatment. Cyclohexylurea has been shown to be an inhibitor of protein biosynthesis and cell growth, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the synthesis of amines necessary for cell division. Cyclohexylurea also inhibits the production of ATP (adenosine triphosphate), a molecule that acts as a source of energy in cells, by binding with potassium ion channels on the surface of cells. This binding prevents potassium ions from entering the cell, leading to inhibition of ATP-sensitive K+ channels and inhibiting cellular activity.
