3-Chloro-6-methylbenzo[b]thiophene-2-carboxylic acid is a synthetic antibiotic that belongs to the class of aminoglycosides. It has been shown to have antibacterial activity against gram-negative bacteria by inhibiting protein synthesis and DNA replication. 3-Chloro-6-methylbenzo[b]thiophene-2-carboxylic acid has an apoptotic effect on cancer cells in vitro, leading to cell death through homologous recombination.
